Kimono


It took up to 12 meters of the most beautiful silk to make traditional Japanese clothes – a kimono. Plus you had to get some very expensive accessories. That’s why a kimono was a sign of a material wealth. By the way, kimono was worn by both men and women. They were different because of the belts – obi. Interestingly, the word kimono itself means clothes in general. Japanese clothes sounds as wafuku. But strangers who came to Japan linked this word to the traditional Japanese dress.
