Weird Dream

Weird Dream

Geographically weird dreams are not tied to any location. This depends more on a person. He’s either going through a difficult period, or he’s not that gifted. These are the dreams that Jean-Jacques L. from Switzerland sees. They’re gloomy and even a little scary. I need to wake up!

Frost on Glass

Frost on a Window

When I was a kid, I really liked to look at frost in the corners of a window. I couldn’t even think of taking pictures of this beauty, because cameras were so rare, and I didn’t know a thing about their technical characteristics. But now you can take a good quality shot of a snowflake. And that’s exactly what billyunderscorebwa did with the help of two of his cameras: Canon PowerShot and Canon Digital Rebel.

Flowers

Flowers

It smells like spring in my home town, and I wanted to post some flowers. And then I got some photos of flowers by Elena from Germany. The photos were made in the direction of macro with drops of crystal water. Everything is like it should be to get us ready for spring.

Pure Architecture

Pure Architecture

I was looking for pure city architecture, and then I found the works of a French photographer Bosniak. It’s so easy to imagine yourself in them. I’m already there, walking in the empty city with green skies over my head. What about you?

New wave

New wave

When you find really interesting works, whether they’re photos or pictures, you need to define a category for them. For example,  Milkboxer girls. Everything has a definite style, but it’s hard to say what style it is. Is it emo? They are usually offended by this. It looks a little like New Wave in modern way. At least the style of the models is this.

Polaroid

Polaroid

It was once fashionable to take pictures with digital cameras. When everyone had a digital camera, it became fashionable to take pictures with film cameras and Polaroids. Does anybody still have them? The digital cameras brought so much fun and comfort into our lives. Now you don’t have to get ready for the last shot of film, and then wait for 2 days to get 36 photos, and on half of them you had your eyes closed. But I’m getting to Polaroid, which was used to make a series of photographs of a girl named 333bracket, plus some Photoshop. By the way, did you know that there are digital Polaroids that print pictures  without any additional devices?

Completely Crazy

Completely Crazy

It’s hard to imagine what the author was trying to tell us. Generally speaking, there are two types of reactions to craziness: 1. You like it and you clap your hands; 2. You’re in shock. The drawings by John Ryan Solis would sooner put you in a state of shock.

Staircases

Staircases

I think you’ll agree with me that staircases have something hypnotic to them. Whether you are standing on the first or the tenth floor, you’re tempted to look how the stairs twist around something invisible. And people have a tendency to capture everything they can’t understand. This is the second selection of staircases.

No Name

No Name

It so happened, that this series of photographs by Christine Day Lorico doesn’t have a name. I like such photos. These are the shots with real people and landscapes, but the impression is that it’s a drawing. Weightless and totally lonely. Light, color and photoshop play games with the audience.

Beautiful Eyes

Beautiful Eyes

Let’s get to the eyes’ theme (and particularly beautiful eyes) with neodecay’s photographs. The creatures, objects and whole worlds that live in the eyes, are a little scary, but it’s perfectly made, a photomanipulation of high quality. It’s mainly Photoshop and a couple of effects. You probably won’t notice how hard it is to make such pictures, but it’s good.

Hangover

Hangover

My sister inspired me to make this selection. I think today a selection of pictures with a hangover theme hits the nail right on the head. Besides, it’s a tradition. Those who drink little at New Year’s or don’t drink at all, should laugh at those dying from a hangover and beg for some water :) by the way, animals sometimes have rough mornings, too. That’s OK, you’ll feel all right in no time.

Blink blink

Blink blink

New York is the fashion capital of the USA. And fashionable photographer, author of these photos, Olivier, is from this city. The photos were made for Blink magazine. They are very winter-style and reserved. I think that’s how Snow queen would look like if she lived today.

Peacocks

Peacocks

If you’re going to the zoo, what do you usually leave till the end? That’s right, peacocks. A zoo isn’t a zoo without peacocks. The most interesting is standing by the fence and waiting why this natural wonder fluffs its tail. I was really surprised by an albino-peacock. A very beautiful bird.

Tebe interesno

Tebe interesno

You should definitely visit this author’s blog. At least because I can’t fit all his creations into one post, even ten wouldn’t be enough. He’s got not just drawings, and not drawn invasions to a photo (and they are very lively). An idea prevails here. Each picture has its own meaning. And it’s nicer to look at them while reading the comments tebe-interesno. But you need time for that. If you just scroll through them, you’ll get nothing of it and won’t get inspired.

Stairs Photos

Stairs Photos

A selection of staircases. Did you know that the most famous staircase is at the entrance to the huge Vatican museum? The title picture is an edited photo of museum’s stairs. It was built in 1932. We don’t know who or when invented the first staircase, but we know one thing for sure – the Medieval ages gave us a wonderful construction that is still popular.

Swimming Caps

Swimming Caps

A fashion-photographer can turn usual swim-caps into a fashion accessory (in the frame of the project, of course) by adding the needed color to make-up. I couldn’t pass this photosession. Plastic acid Swimcaps are screaming for your attention. We just have to deal with our feelings – whether we like them or not. The photographer is Olivier from New-York.

LOST

LOST

Oksana Tocickaja from Lithuania. Her series is called LOST. A beautiful model, and carefully selected literaty image.

New Year Pictures

New Year Pictures

Is your tree up? Is the house decorated? Now decorate your desktop. The selection has some wallpapers for this. The formats are different, but I hope something will be of use. Besides, it has many photographs, drawings and other New Year Pictures.

2009 – A Bull Year

2009 - A Bull Year
2009 was the year of the Bull. I hope it was a good master and helped you in all your dreams and plans. I’d like to wish you a Happy New Year. And always make wishes on New Year’s night. Mine come true for three years in a row. Happy New Year!

Leslie Ann O’Dell – Photo Manipulations

Leslie Ann O'Dell - Photo Manipulations

Birds, cats, rats, nature, insects, plants are all main characters of Leslie Ann O’dell’s photos. The compositions are simple, but beautifully pictured. She’s also useed color-correcting photo manipulations to make them more individual.

Freelance

Freelance

Freelance artists are trying to survive in a big cruel world which is overpopulated, overproduced and lacks in work. They’ve got talent, but have nowhere to use it But we can look at some of their works – they are creative advertisements.

Self-Portrait

Self-Portrait

When a photographer likes to take his own pictures, he always reserves the most interesting ideas for self-portraits. And it’s hard to blame them for this. Everyone can use his their ideas as they please. So in the series of photos by Katarzyna Napiorkowska from Poland the most unusual pictures are among self-portraits.

2009 Pirelli Calendar

2009 Pirelli Calendar

This is the 36th Pirelli calendar. It was made by Peter Burd who lived in Kenia for 30 years, which made its impact on his photos. The main theme of the calendar was ecology. Even the paper was ecologically clean. It wasn’t easy for models selected for the calendar, because the location was one of the few remaining virginal Africa spots, and it was very wild. The calendar’s slogan is “Beauty will save the world”. Well, here is this beauty for you to see. I wonder whether you will like it.

Postcards

Postcards

I love receiving greetings. But not mass ones, when all people are blended into a smiling heap and one greeting is not different from the others. I love them when they’re personal: individually made postcard, hand-wrapped present. I love when they are not boring. If you are interested in gift-wrapping and postcards, you should turn to professionals. For example to those in the Design Lovely Blog. One theme – celebration, and lots of inspiring ideas.

Curls

Curls

Simply jumping-flying people on the pictures and a little bit 3D. Considering that the curls and flowers in graphics are in fashion now, you can’t be surprised by this. But it pleases the eye and will look good on the phone screensaver. Let’s thank Roberto Gamito from Portugal, he has taste.

Benedict Campbell: Photos of Future

Benedict Campbell: Photos of Future
Some computer art from a master – Benedict Campbell. A series that is connected with the future and his vision by an artist. Everything is shiny, smooth and monotonous. Well, we’ll see.

Pomeranian

Pomeranian

A very fashionable dog breed – European spitz (or a pomeranian). Look how cute they are. The pomeranian puppies are the best. They are rather expensive for pets, but they are adorable. A selection of pomeranian pictures.

Tony Yang: Glamorous Girls

Tony Yang: Glamorous Girls

Tony Yang is an American Photographer of an undefined genre. He takes pictures of men, cars, and weddings. But he’s got a lot of glamour. This bright side of his creativity is what we’ll review today.

Olga Gorelova: Still Life

Olga Gorelova: Still Life

Still life series by Olga Gorelova. It’s very bright and clear, just as it should be on a glass picture.

One Woman, One Dress. But What a Dress!

One Woman, One Dress. But What a Dress!

We’ll continue with an endless love story of a woman and a dress :) We’ve already told you about a dress and 16 women, and about a man and a dress. Now it’s a women in one dress. But it’s very unusual and natural.

Elliott Erwitt: Personal Best

Elliott Erwitt: Personal Best

Elliott Erwitt -was born in 1928 in France in the family of immigrants from Russia, and when he was 10, his parents moved to the USA. He began his career as a photographer in the 50′, working as an assistant photographer in the US Army. His works were noticed then and since 1953 he started working as a freelancer, doing photos for magazines like Collier’s, Look, Life. Somewhere in the 70′s his career took a sudden twist and he preferred to work with moving images – in filmmaking. But he never stopped photography, and kept publishing new albums of his works, the latest of which came out in 2005.

Glamour and Pathos Days

Glamour and Pathos Days

Eugenio Recuenco is a Spanish photographer who is a pain in the arse for his clients because he always does what he wants with the photos. His numerous clients all over the world who need him as both a photographer and an editor are also a pain in the arse to him, because they want to do what they want. The result of this battle is something truly genius, really glamorous and full of pathos, but also kind of sad. But this is probably because of the collision of two minds. So, let’s look at the world through a window cut by Eugenio Recuenco.

Miniatures (Tilt-shift)

Miniatures (Tilt-shift)

Today we’ll look at miniatures. Well, their imitation, to be exact, when a usual photo is taken and a picture is made of it that looks like something miniaturistic and magic. You can make such photos without a computer by using a large camera and Тilt-shift lens. But this is for a separate post.

Chinese Book of Change by Li Wei

Chinese Book of Change by Li Wei

On the photos by an artist Li Wey from China are two main plots: somebody’s flying somewhere and someone’s already made it there. Lots of Chinese people are trying to reach the sky, and other Chinese people are actively trying to prevent that. Those that managed to get out and fly – stand still (with their knees above the head) and with the same angle.

Julia Fullerton – Teenage Stories

Julia Fullerton - Teenage Stories

Alices behind the glass – that’s how this series could be called. All the models selected by Julia for this series have never been models. And on the photos she wanted to depict the world like growing girls see it. For those who like technical details – during photography Julia used up to 8 flashes, located in different places, to reach “natural light” effect. That’s what natural looks like.

Marc Paeps

Marc Paeps

I really like such photos. They’re a little surrealistic, with a hint of humour, and a whole story behind them – such small windows into the artist’s crazy world. And, of course, they have this green shade that is used everywhere after Matrix, whether it’s needed or not.

Steven Meisel

Steven Meisel

Can a photographer, who made Madonna’s book Sex, be an ordinary person? It’s quite possible. That’s how Steven Meisel started as a regular illustrator, who didn’t even think of being a photographer, until once he was allowed to take some pictures of models from Elite model agency. That’s how he would have worked – being an illustrator on weekdays, and a hobby-photographer on weekends,  if his pictures weren’t seen by editors of Seventeen. And after that it all went smoothly. He’s been a constant author of Vogue covers for 15 years, guardian of countless models who became icons, and a welcomed author of many fashion magazines. Despite this, Steven hasn’t issued a book of his works and doesn’t even have a portfolio website. But he’s not sad about that at all.

Aaron Hobson – Cinemascapes

Aaron Hobson - Cinemascapes

Today we’re going to the movies. But they’re not regular movies, they’re still ones. It’s a thriller. It’s all going to happen on Wild West, in our time. And who’s going to be the main character and how it’s all going to end, is up to you.

Snowdrops

Snowdrops
Talking about spring again. And what are the most springy flowers? Snowdrops! While we can’t see them, I suggest you watch a selection of pictures and photos of snowdrops. There are 18 types of them, so don’t be surprised to see some unusual ones. Are you in the mood now?:)

Dawn

Dawn
“Daybreak of Light” – that’s how this incredible photo series is called. It’s very nice and great work with color correction, and voila! A series of great pictures on nature background with sun shining from the trees. And somehow it’s especially nice that the artist is from Poland. The author’s name is werol. He does something incredible with the pictures of nature. And he gets to you by working exclusively with color. So beautiful!

Ashes

Ashes
No one expected this. Something went wrong and the tryout of a new bomb ended up with silence. Something quietly blew up in the air and the whole planet calmly fell asleep with dead sleep. A few thousand years have passed. The air on the Earth has changed, and daylight changed because of this. There is still white ash on the trees, people have lost their physical appearance and wander around the Earth as ghosts. Don’t worry, these are just fantasies on the photo series by a French photographer Roland.r. I don’t know the prequel, it just came to me by itself. Amazing images of trees make me restless, and it seems that they have ashes on them.

Concept

Concept
Concept series of photos of a photographer named Beata from Australia. There were many interesting photo series, but I’ve decided to choose this one because the photo’s content is so unusual. For example, take the positive tomatoes, drying in the sun in great company. Whether it has some deep meaning or it’s just light humour, is up to you.
